Position Summary: PK Sound is looking for a creative, self-starting Acoustic Engineer who is ready to develop new solutions with passion and precision. You will design and implement new PK Sound loudspeaker products. You will also participate in shaping the future of the professional live sound industry by performing groundbreaking and innovative research to further propel PK’s technologies to the next level. Working with customers across the globe on some of the highest-profile events and venues, what you create will have a significant impact not only on the company but the millions of people who enjoy the powerful experiences our technology enables.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test new PK loudspeaker enclosures, waveguides, and horn assemblies
  • Participate in the development and testing of acoustical optimization features and algorithms in both the mechanical and digital domains
  • Set up and perform various acoustic measurements for product development purposes
  • Execute acoustics-based research activities for future product development, patents, and journal publishing opportunities
  • Develop acoustic Quality Assurance processes for both manufacturing and product support use
  • Participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle from initial specification to long-term support
  • Ensure reliable operation of products under extreme conditions
  • Communicate progress and problems to management and other departments
  • Create product documentation and user manuals
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with end users, product support, project managers, and other engineers
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Travel to concert venues and festivals may be required for technical support or testing

Skills & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5-10 years developing loudspeakers for professional live audio applications or in an adjacent application
  • Demonstrated ability to perform critical listening activities
  • Experience using the following loudspeaker design software:
    • VACS
    • AKABAK
    • COMSOL
  • Experience using the following acoustic measurement software:
    • SMAART
    • CLIO
    • EASERA
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Critical and pragmatic thinking
  • A collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Experience with AFMG Speaker Lab and EASE GLL Creation
  • Waveguide simulation and design experience
  • DSP architecture and preset development
  • Experience working as professional front of house engineer or system tech
  • Knowledge of the professional audio industry

  • A valid passport, with the ability to travel without restriction
