Location:                     Flexible/Hybrid work from office or home, with occasional visits to Peterborough office.

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about contributing to one of the UK’s most ambitious water infrastructure projects? The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for a Noise and Vibration Impact Assessment Specialist Modeller to support and enhance our project delivery team. 

What will you be doing as our new Noise and Vibration Impact Assessment Specialist Modeller?  

You will be responsible for the successful delivery of a standardised and proportionate modelling approach for noise and vibration impacts, the role reports to the SPA Noise and Vibration Discipline Lead and Deputy. This role will include the application of modelling and calculation methods developed for IC1 to support the EIA process for IC2.  Authoring of written deliverables, including input into project specific Environmental Statements/Appraisals will also be required. 

Whilst construction phase impacts will dominate, there will be a requirement for some operational noise modelling at a number of above ground infrastructure sites.  We envisage implementing the streamlined and efficient modelling approach to both impacts which was developed for IC1. Your role will also include work to discharge IC1 and 2 planning conditions relating to post submission design evolution and operational noise compliance across IC1 and 2 in due course. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Deliver all tasks assigned to you by the Noise and Vibration Discipline and/or Deputy promptly and cost effectively
  • Produce noise and vibration models to support construction and operational assessments
  • Implement the SPA standardised approach for the production of noise and vibration models
  • Produce consistent, technical, high-quality noise and vibration inputs to environmental assessment deliverables 
  • Work with the EIA team to ensure that noise and vibration inputs meet the key SPA programme milestones
  • Contribute to targeted stakeholder consultation, which will be led by the Noise and Vibration Discipline Lead and Deputy

A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours: 

This job might be for you if you are:  

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Acoustics or a related subject.
  • Preferably qualified with IoA Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement, and/or IoA Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control.
  • A collaborative team player who facilitates the sharing of guidance, standards and noise and vibration expertise across SPA.
  • Able to demonstrate a strong technical background and demonstrable knowledge of noise and vibration requirements within consent applications.
  • Have an excellent in-depth experience of using excel with Strutt, SQL and CadnaA to undertake noise modelling for construction and operational noise
  • Experienced in using excel to undertake traffic noise calculations using the CRTN and Noise Advisory Council (1978). A Guide to Measurement and Prediction of the Equivalent Continuous Sound Level methods.
