This is a hands-on internship opportunity to learn the fast-growing commercial audio-visual integration industry while working alongside experienced design engineers. Successful interns may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time AV Design Engineer role after graduation.
About the Role
As an AV Design Engineer Intern, you will support the design and documentation of commercial audio-visual systems used in corporate offices, education, government, houses of worship and other professional environments. You’ll gain exposure to real projects—from concept through installation—while developing technical, design, and professional skills that translate directly into a full-time engineering career.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the design of commercial AV systems, including video, audio, control, and collaboration technologies
- Create and update drawings such as system layouts, floor plans, elevations, and rack drawings
- Support senior engineers with equipment selection, system documentation, and design reviews
- Learn to interpret architectural drawings, scopes of work, and client requirements
- Assist in developing bills of materials (BOMs) and technical documentation
- Participate in project meetings and collaborate with engineering, project management, and installation teams
- Occasionally visit job sites to better understand system implementation and installation best practices
Qualifications & Skills
Required / Preferred:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience using AutoCAD software or similar
- Strong interest in audio-visual systems, technology integration, and design
- Ability to read technical drawings and learn industry standards
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and organization

Additional Information:
Even though this is a remote part-time or full-time internship opportunity, the selected candidate must be located in Florida, Georgia or Tennessee due to payroll constraints.
