Role
We are seeking an AV Technician to install, program, and maintain advanced audio‑visual systems with a strong emphasis on Crestron technologies. This role involves hands-on setup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of integrated AV equipment across a large healthcare environment.
The AV technician will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and onsite IT staff to ensure seamless system performance and timely project delivery. The ideal candidate is Crestron certified, highly skilled in system programming and diagnostics, and experienced in AV over IP and complex AV system integration.
What You’ll Do
- Install, configure, and commission Crestron control systems and associated AV equipment, including audio, video, and automation devices.
- Work with project managers and engineering teams to ensure proper setup and integration of Crestron systems with other AV components.
- Ensure all installations comply with safety standards, building codes, and manufacturer specifications.
- Develop, program, and troubleshoot Crestron control systems using Crestron’s software (e.g., SIMPL Windows, Crestron Studio, etc.).
- Collaborate with the engineering team to implement custom programming solutions and integrate third-party systems into the Crestron environment.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to Crestron systems and connected AV equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and system updates to ensure optimal functionality and performance.
- Provide technical support during events, meetings, or conferences when needed.
- Communicate directly with clients to gather system requirements and provide technical expertise.
- Provide on-site training and documentation for end-users, ensuring they are comfortable with the Crestron system interface.
- Upgrade or modify existing AV and Crestron systems to meet client needs and accommodate new technologies.
- Ensure compatibility of new hardware and software with existing infrastructure.
- Work closely with sales teams to ensure system design meets client specifications.
- Collaborate with the project management team to ensure timely project delivery.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for integration of non-Crestron equipment.
Sample Tasks You’ll Perform
- Troubleshoot Non-Responsive Conference Room Systems
- Resolve Microphone and Audio Dropouts in Hybrid Meetings
- Integrate New AV Hardware Into Existing Systems
- Test and commission Crestron AV systems to confirm all displays, audio, and control features work as designed before handoff to the client.
Key Skills and Abilities Necessary
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and vendors while providing technical support in customer‑facing environments.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Strong knowledge of Crestron programming and control systems.
- Familiarity with AV components, such as video displays, audio systems, matrix switches, amplifiers, microphones, and control processors.
- Proficient in Crestron software tools (e.g., SIMPL Windows, Crestron Studio, and other related software).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex AV and networking issues.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Must be Crestron Certified (Crestron Technician, Programmer, or equivalent certification).
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in installing, programming, and maintaining AV systems, specifically Crestron systems.
- Understanding of network configurations and protocols for AV over IP, including VLAN, DHCP, and subnetting.
- CTS (Certified Technology Specialist), CTS-I (Certified Technology Specialist-Installation), or similar certifications preferred
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy AV equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in various physical environments, including offices, conference rooms, and industrial sites.
- Must be able to bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces as needed for equipment installations.
- Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
