What we need you to do!
Arrival is looking for an experienced Senior Sound Designer to join our team in our Soho studio. This role is focused primarily on linear sound design and post production for game cinematics, trailers and narrative sequences, supporting some of the most ambitious titles in the games industry.
Working closely with our Creative Director, this role will act as a key creative partner in the cinematic pipeline, taking sequences from spotting and editorial through to a strong pre-mix stage within our 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos mix environment.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled Pro Tools editor and cinematic sound designer, comfortable managing complex sessions, conforming evolving picture edits and crafting detailed sound design that supports storytelling and performance.
This is a full-time, studio-based position in Soho working in your own dedicated 7.1.4 studio. The role is predominantly focused on linear sound design, though experience with interactive game audio pipelines is beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Design and edit high-quality cinematic sound for game cutscenes, narrative sequences and trailers
- Work extensively in Avid Pro Tools, managing complex editorial sessions and evolving picture versions
- Perform sound-to-picture editorial, conforming and versioning within cinematic pipelines
- Take sequences from spotting through editorial and sound design to a strong pre-mix stage
- Prepare and deliver pre-mixes that are ready for final mix and review, maintaining clarity and balance across large sessions
- Work within multi-channel formats including 7.1, 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos and other delivery formats
- Execute foley spotting, editorial and integration to support character performance and narrative
- Manage complex session organisation, signal flow and routing in large Pro Tools projects
- Collaborate closely with cinematic teams, editors, narrative designers and production
- Act as a key creative partner and right hand to the Creative Director on cinematic audio sequences
- Deliver mixes suitable for both in-game cinematics and external media such as trailers
- Support gameplay sound design and implementation when required
Requirements
- A demo reel showcasing relevant cinematic or linear sound design work is required. Applications without a demo reel will not be considered.
- Significant experience in linear sound design and post production
- Advanced expertise in Avid Pro Tools, including editorial workflows, conforming, routing and mix preparation
- Strong understanding of multi-channel mixing, including 7.1, 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos and cinematic formats
- Proven experience designing and conforming sound to picture
- Strong editorial judgement including foley spotting, dialogue support and sound design pacing
- Excellent understanding of signal flow, routing and session management in complex Pro Tools environments
- Experience preparing sequences to a high-quality pre-mix stage within large multi-track sessions
- Experience recording and creating original sound sources including field and studio recording
- Experience working on AAA game cinematics, trailers or narrative-driven content
- Game audio credits on at least one shipped title preferred
- Familiarity with Wwise or FMOD is beneficial but not essential
- Must be able to work full-time on-site in our Soho studio (this is not a hybrid role).
